Islamabad United, who finished last in the fifth season of Pakistan Super League (PSL), will be making the first pick in the opening round of the PSL 2021 draft as the PCB confirmed the pick orders.
Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars will get to choose their platinum picks in round one on the second and third turn whereas Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators will have the subsequent two picks.
Defending champions Karachi Kings will be the last team to pick in the first round as the order "was decided after a random draw in the presence of representatives of all six franchises at the PCB headquarters in Lahore", according to the PCB statement.
"The next 17 rounds were decided through a special statistical tool," the board's media release further added.
Although the date and related details of the PSL 2021 Player Draft has not been announced by the governing board yet, reports suggest that the season 6 draft will be held in the first week of January.
In contrast to the current arrangement of the pick order for round one, 2019 champions Quetta Gladiators were awarded the honours of picking first from the Platinum category in the PSL 2020 Player Draft.
Coincidentally, Karachi Kings went last in the first round then as well when they acquired the services of dashing England opener Alex Hales.
It is not clear whether the upcoming season will be staged without spectators in the stadium or will feature limited attendance as Pakistan is hit by the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic at the moment.
The Imad Wasim-captained Karachi Kings defeated archrivals Lahore Qalandars in the final to lift the coveted PSL trophy for the first time.
