Heat pull off a 15-run win despite Stoinis heroics

Brendon McCullum, Joe Burns and Alex Ross helped Brisbane Heat close in on 15-run victory against Melbourne Stars in the 2nd game of the Big Bash League.

Heat were put in to bat first by Melbourne Stars but their bowlers couldn’t stop the likes of McCullum, Burns, Ross and Cutting to score at brisk pace. Alex Ross ended up being the highest scorer for his 51 off 36 balls. Heat finished with 206 runs on the board after the end of 20 overs.

Stars’ chase was hampered by Shadab Khan in particular, who picked up two wickets to knock over the dangerous Maxwell and Luke Wright.

Stoinis and Faulkner shared a 137-run partnership but that couldn’t help Stars’ cause. Moreover, Stoinis was dismissed on 99, missing out on his first T20 hundred.

Stoinis was declared man of the match for his 99 off 51 balls and three wickets.
