Dwayne Bravo’s five-fer, including his 400 T20 wicket, followed by fifties from Cameron White and Marcus Harris delivered a comfortable seven-wicket win for Melbourne Renegades over Hobart Hurricanes in the third game of BBL 2017-18.
Put into bat first, Hobart could only manage 164 for eight wickets, with top five all failing to capitalize on starts as Melbourne kept the screws tight with regular strikes. The West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo took the first five-fer of the season, taking three in the last over Hobart innings. D’Arcy Short and Ben McDermott top-scored with 34 each while Alex Doolan, George Bailey and Dan Christian fell in their 20s.
In reply, Aaron Finch fell on the second ball of the innings but a 113-run partnership between Marcus Harris and Cameron White ensured a smooth sailing for Renegades before Harris fell for 50. Renegades eventually chased down the target with seven wickets in hand and nine balls to spare.
Dwayne Bravo was adjudged player of the match for his five-fer.
