Ben Laughlin scripted Adelaide Strikers’ 53-run win over Sydney Thunder in the fourth BBL match at Adelaide on Friday.
Defending his side’s 163/6, Laughlin returned 4/26 in 3.4 overs which wrapped up Thunder’s innings in 17.4 overs.
The pace bowler received assistance from Peter Siddle and debutant Rashid Khan, as, both picked up two wickets apiece.
Siddle provided Strikers with the first breakthrough, picking up Jos Buttler’s wicket.
Kurtis Patterson took Thunder through the powerplay overs along with skipper Shane Watson.
With Watson’s wicket off Trevis Head’s bowing in the eighth over Thunder lost the moment, despite Patterson’s efforts to keep the chase on track.
The 24-year-old struck a 37-ball 48 with four 4s and a six before he fell to Billy Stanlake in the 13th over.
Earlier, Alex Carey and Head struck a brilliant 79-run partnership for the second-wicket after Strikers elected to bat first.
Carey was innings’ top-scorer with his 44 from 26 ball. Head made 36 off 29 balls.
