An exceptional last over by Michael Neser saw Adelaide Strikers to a 6-run win over Sydney Sixers at Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday.
The hosts were chasing Strikers’ 167 runs that had been brought up by Alex Carey with a magnificent maiden T20 fifty.
Carey scored an unbeaten 83 from 59 balls with eight 4s and two 6s.
Sixers never looked in control during their chase as their batsmen fell on regular intervals. At an instance they were three down for 33 inside powerplay.
Jordan Silk was the only batsman in top five to show some resistance to Strikers’ bowlers.
Silk scored a 32-ball 50 before he was knocked over by Rashid Khan in the 15th over with Sixers’ half of the batting lineup back in the pavilion for 104 runs.
The match, however, went into the last over as Johan Botha and Steve O’Keefe scored 25 and 28.
The latter breathe life into the chase with a six over mid-wicket on the last ball of the penultimate over, reducing the equation to 16 required from the last over.
The last over began with a massive six but only three runs came from the rest of the over with a wicket on the last ball.
