Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunders faced off in a close encounter as the former handed over a 9-run defeat to Watson led side.
After being put in to bat first, Hurricanes were off to a slow start but they made progression as the innings moved on. Short and McDermott did most of the damage as the duo notched up a 104-run partnership to thrust the total to 189. Short fell three runs shy of his maiden T20 hundred.
Thunders’ chase was led by Jos Buttler who put on 43-ball 81. Patterson and Watson played around him but the rest of the batting couldn’t do enough to guarantee a win.
D’Arcy Short was declared man of the match for his stellar performance with the bat.
