Teenage leg-spin sensation, Shadab Khan, is all set to join Hong Kong Island United as Vice-captain, announced Islamabad United in a press release.
Shadab first rose to International cricket after being scouted and picked by Islamabad United for the Pakistan Super League and since then, he has become one of the most sought players in franchise cricket across the globe. Within a span of 12 months, Shadab has represented Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League and Brisbane Heat in the ongoing Big Bash League.
After being picked for the Hong Kong T20 Blitz, the 19-year old said, “My journey started in the red jersey of Islamabad United and I’m excited to wear Hong Kong Island United’s red now. I take huge pride in being made the vice-captain and this will be a very valuable experience for me. I hope I can groom my leadership skills here.”
Speaking on the occasion, franchise owner Ali Naqvi said, “I have seen Shadab Khan’s progress over the last year and it is something I am really proud of. We brought him to Hong Kong to promote the art of leg-spin in this country. There are a lot of aspiring cricketers and Shadab’s story will not only inspire them but will also teach them that age is just a number if you are willing to work hard.”
