Former Australia fast bowler Mitchell Johnson has withdrawn from the Pakistan Super League, citing personal reasons. Johnson was set to debut for Karachi Kings.
“Yes I am making myself unavailable this PSL18 for personal reasons & also for me to schedule myself the way I feel works best for me this year for 20/20 tournaments,” said Johnson in a tweet.
Johnson's absence is a major blow to Karachi’s bowling attack that could also miss Usman Khan, who has been sidelined for six months due to a stress fracture.
Kings are yet to make an announcement on a possible replacement.
Johnson is the joint second-highest wicket-taker for Perth Scorchers in the ongoing Big Bash League. He is all set to play in this year’s IPL, for which the players will go under the hammer in auction on January 27-28.
The third edition of the PSL gets underway on February 22 in Dubai. Check out the complete PSL schedule for 2018.
