Born on 10 April 1990, Zaman is now one known fastest batsman in Pakistan’s Cricket Team. His birthplace is Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In his childhood, his father noticed he is very addicted to cricket but he wanted his son to focus on his academics other than sports. After matriculation, Zaman moved to Karachi and joined Pakistan Navy as a sailor in 2007. He completed his training from Pakistan Navy School, Bahadur.

Later on, he started playing for the Pakistan Navy cricket team where his navy coach, Azam Khan appreciated and encouraged him to follow his passion on a professional platform. Which was a turning point in his life and after a tough decision, he did manage to quit his on-going career in order to feed his dedication towards being a cricketer.

Zaman started appearing in regional matches and played for “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa”, “Balochistan”, “Abbottabad Falcons” and other Karachi teams. That was the time when his dream came true and the professional career journey began.

Achievements in Professional Career:

Zaman is basically known for being on seventh-highest number among the top ten for individually scoring (210) in a single inning in ODIs. He played his List A game debut in 2012. Further his struggle of years in domestic matches, piling up the runs which all went unnoticed until Zaman played in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in 2016-17. He impressed everyone by scoring excess 600 runs.

Zaman was picked by Lahore Qalandars to play in Pakistan Super League 2017 where he was mentored by New Zealand player, Brendon McCullum. As time and hard work always pay off, so Zaman’s struggle also achieved him a significant place in the team as a left-handed opening batsman.

On an international level, Zaman was named in Pakistan’s limited-overs squad to play against West Indies. His debut Twenty20 International for Pakistan against Windies held on 30 March 2017. Whereas, he made his One Day International debut for Pakistan against South Africa in 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. This match was held on 7 June 2017.

In Harare, Fakhar scored 91 runs against Australia in Tri-series Final. In this match, on 8 July 2018, Zaman helped to secure the title of Pakistan. He was called a man of the final and man of the series as he was the first Pakistani batsman to score 500 and more runs in T20Is. Zaman is also known for scoring a double century in ODIs finishing 210-not out. This match was played against Zimbabwe on 20 July 2018.

Journey 2019: CWC19

Fakhar Zaman was selected to perform in Euro T20 Slam Tournament for Rotterdam Rhinos in July 2019. He was also part of Pakistan’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. Here the performance of Fakhar was a bit low as he scored only 186 runs in 8 innings for Pakistan. Though the whole batting is blamed for not giving their best. In other words, fellow mates said the team is not playing the natural game as, during the do-or-die clash of Pakistan against South Africa, Zaman tried to play an unorthodox shot which was disappointing for everyone.

Tough winning or losing is just a matter of luck in the game, apart from that, Fakhar Zaman is one remarkable player who gave us many proud moments as well. After the World Cup, Zaman scored 138 runs in the ODI series against England. This highest individual total record for the batsman was later beaten by Imam-ul-Haq with 151 runs.
