The recent U-19 World Cup unearthed a 17-year-old fast bowler from Pakistan who was picked by Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) this year. Shaheen Shah Afridi was able to make a mark in the tournament after he picked up 5 wickets for just 4 runs against Multan Sultans.
Pakistan team head coach Mickey Arthur has said that he sees a bit of Mitchell Starc in the young Shaheen Afridi as he has also seen the Australian pacer in his younger days.
“I had the privilege of seeing Mitchell Starc when he was very young and there is a very close resemblance between the two of them. Shaheen just needs the right guidance and training and he's going to be a star,” he added.
Regarding him as one of the finds of the tournament, Arthur emphasized on the importance of putting Shaheen in the right system and provide him with all the guidance he needs in order to become a great cricketer for Pakistan.
