India’s 18-year-old cricketer Prithvi Shaw stole the limelight on the first day of the first Test between India and West Indies on Thursday. Shaw scored 134 off 154 balls on his debut and led India to 364 for four at the close of play on day one.
But there was one more thing that caught the attention of everyone. The West Indies players were seen wearing black armbands during the play. Later the West Indies Cricket revealed the reason for it through a tweet.
The Windies players wore the black armband as a mark of respect to their team mate Kemar Roach, who is currently in Barbados due to his grandmother’s death. Reportedly, Roach will return back to India and play in the second Test.
