The first ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand was embroiled in controversy after senior Kiwi batsman Ross Taylor questioned the legality of Mohammad Hafeez’s bowling action. Taylor seemingly gestured to the umpires that Hafeez was throwing the ball, sparking a wrathful reaction from skipper Sarfraz Ahmed.
The wicketkeeper then proceeded to indulge himself in a heated exchange with Taylor and complained about his actions to the umpires. Later, during the post-match conference, Sarfraz addressed the issue by criticizing the 34-year-old and terming his reaction as not falling coming under sportsman spirit.
“Ross is a professional cricketer and he should not have done that. He did it two or three times, it's the umpires' job. Hafeez's action has no problem and he was trying to create an issue without a reason,” he said.
