Ever since the unfortunate attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore in 2009, the Pakistan cricket team has been forced to host its home series in the UAE. This has however come at the detriment of Pakistan supporters back home and also the cricketers, since the Dubai and Abu Dhabi stadiums mostly experience sparse attendance.
This was alluded to by former skipper Ramiz Raja in a recent tweet, as he sought to explain the lack of attendance during the first ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand. He despairingly asked the Pakistan team fans whether they had stopped caring about the sport in general.
He also pointed out that this is not beneficial to Pakistan cricket in the long-run and lowers the spirits of the players.
