The peculiar rise of Pakistan’s all-rounder Sana Mir has inspired many girls to pursue a career in sports. Her laudable achievement was celebrated in the country in no uncertain terms as her social media accounts were flooded with congratulatory messages.
The 32-year old cricket has raised a valid point about the investment in sports for women by citing her example. Coming through the ranks of an under-developed country like Pakistan, Sana’s special moment was seen as a success for all the girls of the country.
In her talk to the International Cricket Council (ICC) in Guyana ahead of the ICC Women’s World T20 2018, the star cricketer said that her achievement should end the debates back home about whether it was worth investing in women’s sport.
