Shadab Khan became victim to a shocking decision from the umpire in the first ODI of the ongoing series between Pakistan and New Zealand. The ball was miles away from the bat but umpire Ahsan Raza adjudged him caught behind and the leg-spinner had to walk back to the pavilion as the sole review had already been used up.
Reflecting upon the howler, Ahsan remarked how tough it is to give a decision within a split second. He spoke about how umpiring is often a thankless job since the stakes are pretty high as the pressure mounts with each passing moment.
“It’s not easy to give decision within a second under the crowd's noise. Sitting outside and criticizing umpiring standards is easy but the pressure umpire undergoes, can only be felt by standing in the stadium. An umpire tries his best that the decision isn't reviewed,” he said.
