The Indian Premier League (IPL) would be held right before the 50-over World Cup next year as it might affect the availability of players for the league.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli has asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to rest the front-line pacers during the 2019 edition of the IPL in order to keep them fresh and fit for the mega tournament in England.

In a meeting held with the Committee of Administrators (CoA), Kohli put forward the suggestion in front of Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, and Ravi Shastri, who all agreed with the skipper.

Moreover, they all agreed that batsmen do not need to be rested for the IPL as it is the bowling unit which gets exhausted during the lengthy franchise league.
