Tshwane Spartans defeated Jozi Stars by four wickets in the 13th match of the Mzansi Super League (MSL) on Wednesday.
Spartans won the toss and elected to field first. Stars scored 186 for 5 with the help of Pite van Biljon (42 off 13 balls) and Reeza Hendricks (55 off 48 balls).
However, South African cricketer Dean Elgar masterminded Spartans’ run-chase with an excellent half-century to lift the team off the basement of the league’s table. Elgar hit four sixes and five boundaries in his 52–ball innings of 79 (not out). AB de Villiers contributed 39 off 21 balls with two fours and three sixes. Elgar was declared player of the match.
