The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been a superb launching pad for harnessing the skills of the next generation of Pakistani cricketers. Giving the otherwise unknown local talent a chance to share the dressing room with some of the greats in the game, this allows the youngsters to become household names owing to their performances.
Newest kid on the block right-arm pacer from Peshawar, Muhammad Ilyas is reveling the chance to participate in the PSL in the upcoming season after he was picked by the Sixth Team in the recently held draft.
The 19-year-old has already made a mark in the domestic cricket, accomplishing a 10-wicket haul early on in his career and achieved a maiden hat-trick against Hong Kong in the ongoing Emerging Teams’ Asia Cup in Karachi.
Talking about his excitement for PSL, Ilyas looked forward to sharing the center stage with players like Junaid Khan, Mohammad Abbas, Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik.
“I am absolutely delighted to have been picked for the PSL’s Sixth Team. I will be part of a squad which will have some big names. I have only met Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik once and don’t really know them that well, so you can understand how excited I am about the chance of sharing a dressing room with such great cricketers,” he said.
