In the aftermath of Pakistan’s defeat in the second Test match against South Africa, skipper Sarfraz Ahmed did not hide his disappointment over the lack of pace exhibited by his bowling lineup. The 9-wicket loss led Sarfraz to claim that Pakistan’s pacers were deficient in the right amount of speed to exploit the bouncy nature of South African pitches.

Taking into account Sarfraz’s complaints and the overall green surfaces in Proteas conditions, former captain Shahid Afridi has advised for the inclusion of left-arm pacer Wahab Riaz into the side.

Afridi made his thoughts known via a tweet penned following the announcement of Pakistan’s ODI squad against South Africa, from which Wahab’s name was missing.

Wahab last represented Pakistan in October last year in a Test match versus Australia at Dubai. He has since been rendered out of contention for a spot in the team after the arrival of Shaheen Afridi.

Afridi also wished the team best of luck for the final Test of the series and the upcoming ODI’s. He himself is currently engaged in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
