The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) so far has witnessed either low scoring matches or one-sided high scoring matches. However, the recent clash between Sylhet Sixers and Chittagong Vikings proved to be the first high-scoring thriller for the viewers.
Sylhet Sixers, under the captaincy of the Australian player David Warner, opened their account by prevailing by just 5 runs against having made 168 runs in the first innings.
Sylhet got off to a bad start as they lost three wickets for just six runs in 2.3 overs after winning the toss. But young left-hander Afif Hossain formed a brilliant 71-run partnership with captain Warner to stabilize the Sylhet innings. Warner continued the recovery and added 70 runs with Nicolas Pooran before getting out for 59 off 47 balls.
The Vikings needed 24 runs in the last over and Al Amin Hossain managed to defend it, albeit he went for 57 runs in his spell of four overs.
