India’s premier first-class competition, the Ranji Trophy has recently experienced some extremely low-scoring encounters calling into question the quality of pitches in the domestic circuit. Two teams were bowled out for the identical score of 35 on the same day in separate matches earlier this week.
The unfortunate teams were Tripura and Madhya Pradesh – both of the teams floundered to a heavy defeat in their respective games. Madhya Pradesh’s collapse was more remarkable as they crumbled from 35/3 to 35 all out, with 5 batsmen being dismissed for a duck.
The dusty bowls on offer have been criticized by a few people, as they point out this being detrimental to the development and growth of the batsmen.
