The third Test match started at the Wanderers today and the South Africans were looking to bat through the day after Aiden Markram and Hashim Amla formed a long partnership. Stand in captain Dean Elgar went early but Markram and Amla batted well together for the 2nd wicket.

Markram went after scoring 90 and soon Amla was caught in the slips off Shadab Khan as well. The middle order of South Africa batted well for some time as Theunis de Bruyn and the debutant Hamza Zubayr started to build a strong partnership. de Bruyn went for 49 and Hamza scored 41 on his Test debut.

Soon the middle order collapsed and Pakistan bowlers were on top in the last session after Tea. Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Abbas and Hasan Ali took 2 wickets each and Faheem Ashraf took 3 wickets.

South Africa were all out for 262 after they were just 3 wickets down for 226. Before the end of the day, Pakistan required to survive for 9 overs but Vernon Philander had other plans as he took the opener Shan Masood and Azhar Ali on consecutive balls.
