Rookie off-spinner Aliss Islam has instantly stolen the spotlight after a remarkable debut in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The uncapped bowler who is yet to play in the country’s first-class circuit, immediately made the headlines after he became the first player in BPL to register a hat-trick on his debut.
The 22-year-old was the hero for his team in the encounter between Dhaka Dynamites and Rangpur Riders, making inroads towards the end of the innings and bowling the final over of the match.
Despite his poor performance in the field, missing three catches, the youngster did more than enough to make up for his missed opportunities.
He dismissed the well-set Mohammad Mithun, Rangpur skipper Mashrafe Mortaza and Farhad Reza in succession to complete his hat-trick. Earlier, he had got the better of Rilee Rossouw thus finishing with figures of 4/26.
