Fast bowler Mohammad Amir has not been able to replicate his past performances since his comeback as he seems to have lost the sharp swing that he once had at the start of his career.
The pacer has been especially disappointing in the longer format as he often fails to take wickets with the new ball which is one of the strongest suits of any opening bowler of a team.
Since making his comeback in 2016, Amir has bowled the most number of spells with the new ball for Pakistan in Test cricket. However, he has the worst figures among all pacers in the world during this period as he has only taken 6 wickets in 24 new ball spells in the SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) countries.
Moreover, Amir also has the worst average (59.2) in the world in the past two years which further elaborates the fact that he has failed miserably to get breakthroughs for the team.
With such consistent below-par performances for almost 2 years, it might be time to replace the pacer in the Test format as he clearly seems to struggle to take wickets.
