Pakistan were outplayed by South Africa in all departments in the recently concluded ODI series. Although the visitors put on some resistance, claiming two wins from 5 games, their bowling problems were pretty visible as they failed to threaten the Proteas batting in the crunch moments.
Reflecting on his team’s performance in the aftermath of the tour, head coach Mickey Arthur has admitted that his side is in need of more wickets from the current bowlers. In a press conference, Arthur stressed on the importance of having wicket-taking bowlers in ODI cricket as the key to success.
One factor that allowed Pakistan to achieve the Champions Trophy triumph in 2017 was the prolific form of Mohammad Amir and Hasan Ali which meant that opposition had great difficulty building the innings. In recent times, both these bowlers have faced a slump in bowling form.
