Despite being a heavyweight of the cricketing world, Australia will enter this year’s World Cup event as the underdogs. The absence of David Warner and Steve Smith has jolted the set up as the authorities are aiming to take Australian cricket back to the heights of success.
The latest development concerning Australian cricket includes the appointment of the three-time World Cup winner and legendary captain Ricky Ponting who is all set to join Justin Langer as the Assistant Coach of Australia for the upcoming Ashes series and the mega-event which is to be staged in England and Wales.
The 44-year old, who is considered as a close ally of head coach Justin Langer, has previously worked with the T20I side of Australia. The Tasmania born is thrilled with his latest job as he is eager to counter the new challenges and work for the betterment of his country’s cricket. Ponting will be seen joining the Australian side after his coaching stint with Delhi Capitals for this year’s season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
