The Pakistan women’s team has had a great start to the new year as they have successfully defeated a higher-ranked West Indies side in the ODI series in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The green shirts produced a comprehensive performance in all departments as they out-classed the visitors by chasing down the total of 160 without any pressure after the bowlers bowled out the West Indies side.
Opening batswoman Nahida Khan did not manage to score big after getting a good start as she was removed by Shakera Selman in the 9th over for just 15 runs. Nonetheless, she still achieved a rare feat during her innings as she crossed the 1000 ODI runs mark.
Nahida has now become only the 5th batswoman from Pakistan to cross the milestone in 50-overs cricket. Before her, only Javeria Khan (2457 runs), Bismah Maroof (2342 runs), Nain Abidi (1625 runs), and Sani Mir (1588 runs) had crossed the 1000 runs mark in the brief history of Pakistan women’s team.
