In all the three previous seasons of the Pakistan Super League, Lahore Qalandars has never won their opening game. They were beaten by Karachi Kings in the inaugural edition while Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans prevailed over them in second and third seasons respectively.
This season presents them a stern test as Lahore would be up against the defending champions Islamabad United which has been the most successful franchise of the three-year short history of the tournament.
Head coach and former Pakistan cricketer Aaqib Javed has backed his unit to fire in the opening game of the fourth season of Pakistan’s most cherished T20 tournament. The Sheikhupura born believes that Lahore did well in the drafts to secure a balanced squad which has all the ingredients to make them the champions of the tournament.
The 46-year old stressed on the consequentiality of starting the tournament on a positive note as he reviewed the game against Islamabad. Furthermore, Aaqib is hopeful of a massive turnaround as he is seeking glory in the forthcoming season of Pakistan’s biggest cricketing gala.
