If Umer Khan’s dismissal of the South African great AB de Villiers in the earlier part of the tournament was any indication of his exceptional talent, then the youngster has validated his immense potential by subsequent performances in the PSL 4.
The 19-year-old left-arm spinner from Karachi Kings, has been the giant slayer this season, leading a tantalizing bowling display against the best of batsmen. In the nail-biting encounter against Quetta Gladiators, Umer outfoxed the veteran campaigners Shane Watson, Rilee Rossouw and Umar Akmal helping his side over the line by a sole run.
Showing maturity far beyond his tender age, the youngster has been floating his deliveries right up to the batsmen, inviting them to take risk. This has been the potent threat posed by his bowling that allows him to pick up wickets consistently. Umer has now accumulated 13 wickets in 9 PSL games at an average of just 13.92.
