Islamabad United (IU) have inched one step closer to their 3rd final in 4 years of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after defeating Karachi Kings (KK) in the eliminator on Thursday night in Karachi.
English opening batsman Alex Hales made an impressive PSL debut as he scored 41 runs off 42 at a time when the defending champions needed someone to anchor the innings. Hales did not score at his usual strike rate but he took United close to the finishing line by taking the game deep.
During his stay at the crease, Hales hit 5 fours and 1 maximum as he saw off Umer Khan who was looking to take the game away from the red shirts. Overall, it was an impressive performance by Hales on his first game of this season as he made a vital contribution to the team’s cause even after joining them so late in the tournament.
