Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators yet again engaged in an epic battle in the first qualifier of this year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL). It was the Gladiators who held their nerves to seal a berth in the final for the third time in four seasons.
What made the victory even more special is that they were stripped off their premier spinner Fawad Ahmed who bowled well throughout the tourney. Getting smashed on the face by a blistering drive of Imam-ul-Haq, the 37-year old cricketer was taken to the Agha Khan hospital for the treatment.
According to the sources, the leggie has received stitches on his upper lip as it was swollen. Furthermore, the unfortunate incident witnessed him breaking two teeth. The Marghuz born player also received a gum surgery around his front teeth.
While his participation in the final of the biggest T20 extravaganza hasn’t been confirmed yet, Quetta is confident about Fawad’s recovery. In his absence, the 31-year old Max Waller might be seen making his PSL debut. But, considering the quality and the performances of Fawad, his potential absence would dent Quetta big time.
