It was not a great outing for a jam-packed National Stadium when the home team Karachi Kings lost the match to Islamabad United and went out of the race of PSL 4. Karachi fans were disappointed after their team could not do well in the all-important eliminator.
After a brisk start from Colin Munro and Babar Azam, Karachi brought up 50 runs in just first 4 overs of powerplay. They ended their powerplay at the score of 78-1. Everyone backed them up to score 200+ runs.
But the fortunes changed dramatically and poor performance from the middle and lower middle-order of Karachi halted their innings on 161-9. Karachi Kings lost their way from 100-1 from 161-9 courtesy brilliant seam bowling from Islamabad United.
Karachi Kings had a good start with the ball when they got the wicket of Luke Ronchi early in the piece. Alex Hales stabilized the ship of Islamabad United. Babar Azam dropped the catch of Alex Hales and Asif Ali on crucial stages which were the turning points of the match.
Alex Hales' drop did not cost a lot of damage as he was taken immediately by Amir Yamin. But Karachi's poor death bowling and ordinary fielding did a lot of damage to Karachi's cause and yet again they could not make it to the final of PSL 4.
