After a month of cricketing action of the highest quality, it has all boiled down to the grand showdown between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators to battle it out for the biggest prize. Gladiators are still in pursuit of their first ever taste of the PSL trophy, while Zalmi have previously been PSL champions after defeating rivals Quetta in the second season.
The two franchises have been the most consistent this season, and duly deserve to have a place in the finals. It will be a clash between the two most threatening bowling lineups with the famed pace quartet of Zalmi comprising of Hasan Ali, Wahab Riaz, Tymal Mills and Chris Jordan going up against Gladiators’ Dwayne Bravo, Mohammad Hasnain, Sohail Tanvir and Fawad Ahmed.
Looking back at the past heated contests played out between the two teams, a majority of their encounters have been nail-biting thrillers with three of the matches seeing the margin of victory by a sole run.
The familiar foes head into the final, with Quetta Gladiators boasting a stronger record this season, while overall they have 7 out of the 13 matches played against Zalmi. Nevertheless, the batting paradise wicket at National Stadium, Karachi means that the game is up for grabs for both sides.
