Peshawar Zalmi began their Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2019 campaign in an underwhelming fashion, faring mediocrely in the opening few games. However, the batting duo of Imam-ul-Haq and Kamran Akmal soon found their rhythm and have blown apart every opposition since then.
Imam, who is not known for keeping a steep strike rate, has vastly improved upon his attacking stroke play and ably supported his senior partner Akmal on the other end. After another century-stand between the two, Imam and Akmal have raised their tally of runs as a pair to 379 this season.
This is now the highest number of runs added together as a partnership across the tournament, bettering Karachi Kings’ Liam Livingstone and Babar Azam’s record of 366 runs. With one more game to go, Zalmi will be hoping their star batting duo is at their best once again.
