Under the captaincy of the opening batsman Aaron Finch, Australia recorded a sensational comeback to register an emphatic series victory against India. However, the individual performance of the hard-hitting player hasn’t been up to the mark as he is still finding himself in search of his mojo.
With the return of David Warner and Steve Smith, life is set to become harder for the Victoria born cricketer. However, he has received a valuable support just before the World Cup which is scheduled to be played in England and Wales.
Former Australian captain and a legend of the game Ricky Ponting believes that the Kangaroos should continue to see Finch leading them in the mega-event. The 44-year old admitted the failures of the experienced cricketer, but feels that his shrewd captaincy skills would be critical to Australia’s defense of the World Cup title.
Continuing his argument, the Tasmania born added that Finch is continuously improving as the leader of the pack and would further blossom with a squad set to be bolstered by the inclusion of veteran cricketers David Warner and Steve Smith.
