England are rightly being termed as the favorites of the upcoming World Cup, expected to be held in their own backyard. With a quality squad already up their sleeves, the England management is still open to the idea of tinkering with their winning combination to give chances to exciting youngsters.
The most hyped up of the lot is 23-year-old pacer Jofra Archer, who has wreaked havoc with his express fast bowling in various leagues around the world. England skipper Eoin Morgan thus has claimed that they are likely to test the rookie pacer in the series against Pakistan in May.
“The hype about Jofra playing around the world and doing well and attracting a lot of attention is justified as he has put in performances that warrant looking at. Trevor Bayliss said after the West Indies series we will look at him against Pakistan [who England play in five ODIs in May] and that’s what we will do,” Morgan said.
Thus, Archer could potentially be in line to appearing in his first ever World Cup if he manages to impress the selectors in the Pakistan series.
