Pakistan’s chief destroyer in the Test format, Mohammad Abbas has been handed an ODI cap as a trial for the World Cup scheduled to take place in England in a couple of months’ time. Though the medium-pacer has not been able to impress much in the ongoing Australian series, Mohammad Asif wants him in the World Cup squad.
“Abbas was always a keen learner of the game, which has helped him in performing in Test cricket,” he said, quoted local media. “He should be part of the World Cup squad, as his bowling will benefit Pakistan in England,” Mohammad Asif said.
According to the bowling coach Azhar Mahmood, still two bowling spots left for the World Cup squad remain and the team management is eyeing a suitable bowling combination ahead of the mega event.
