Dark clouds loom over Hafeez’s World Cup chances

All-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has undergone the second surgery on his thumb in England and he would now have to wait another 2 weeks before getting back to training. Hafeez was injured during the PSL recently after getting struck by Colin Ingram on the thumb.

The all-rounder might not be able to appear for the fitness test scheduled on the 14th of April which would be the main criteria for selection of players in this year’s World Cup squad.

In case Hafeez does not get fit in time, the management might consider Umar Akmal for the middle order as he has been in decent touch off late.

Hafeez has been a regular member of the ODI side for a few years now but his untimely injury and rehab has put his World Cup chances in jeopardy.
