The latest season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has already witnessed a spate of high-scoring encounters, signaling the flat pitches prevalent in the tournament. This also casts a light on the relatively lower standards of bowling in IPL as compared to the Big Bash League (BBL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL).
This point was alluded to by former English cricketer and current international coach Ian Pont, who tweeted his assessment of the lack of local talent among IPL bowlers. Pont evaluated that bowlers in PSL tend to be superior to their counterparts in IPL, and this statement is vindicated by the comments of players like Shane Watson and Kevin Pietersen.
Pont’s somewhat controversial remarks generated a lot of heated responses from Indian fans, who were understandably displeased with the tweet. However, records tend to suggest PSL has considerably less number of high totals as compared to IPL.
