Former South African captain AB de Villiers remains to be one of the most celebrated cricketers of the history of the game. Having retired from the International cricket, the master blaster is witnessed plying his trade in T20 leagues across the globe.
The prowess of the 35-year old was once again on display against Mumbai Indians as he smashed his 29th Indian Premier League (IPL) half-century. Doing so, Mr. 360 became only the third overseas batsman after David Warner and Chris Gayle to amass 4000 runs in the history of the tournament.
Mustering 4032 runs in 143 IPL games, the dynamic cricketer produced various gigantic batting displays. He gave his best shot to pull another miraculous chase against Mumbai but didn’t find the needed support from the other end. While the Pretoria born smashed an unbeaten 70 runs off just 41 balls, his franchise lost the game by 6 runs in controversial circumstances.
AB de Villiers was utterly disappointed to lose the game as this was only the first instance of him remaining unbeaten in a losing run-chase in the IPL. Before this, he was involved in 15 such occurrences where he ended up on the winning side.
