Umar Akmal, who made a comeback to the national side at the back of his good performances in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), has failed to make any positive impression on the selectors.
According to the sources, chances of his selection in the 2019 ICC World Cup squad are bleak bearing in mind his lackluster show with the bat, since making a comeback to the national side.
“His attitude off the field has improved but he has not been able to impress on the field so far,” sources revealed. After making 48 runs in the first ODI, Umar Akmal has really struggled to get runs under his belt and his inconsistency and lack of temperament were once again exposed to the selectors.
The 28-year-old, who was withdrawn from Pakistan’s 2017 ICC Champions Trophy squad on basis of his poor fitness levels, will also need to clear a fitness test in order to secure a spot in World Cup’s touring party.
