Pakistan’s debut opener, Abid Ali got everyone talking with his exquisite stroke play, who also went on to score a scintillating hundred in his first match. Abid’s 112 runs innings is the highest score by any Pakistan batsman on ODI debut.
However, Abid was left disappointed after the match because Pakistan couldn’t finish the game and lost narrowly from a winning position.
“Obviously, I would have been much happier if the team had won the game. When Umar Akmal and Saad Ali lost their wickets is when things got a little difficult as this was a time when we needed a run a ball,” he was quoted as saying to the press.
Talking about his debut, he revealed that he only got to know about his debut in the morning because Imam-ul-Haq had a fever. “When I did find out, I was very happy and positive also as I had been doing well in the current season and scoring well. I was just looking for an opportunity to prove myself which I did today,” he added.
