Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) dreadful start to the 12th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) prolonged with a morale-crushing defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Never in a position to put up a fight in the game, RCB were left stunned as the opening duo of Jonny Bairstow and David Warner displayed scintillating striking to stack up a mountain of runs.
The Englishman and the Aussie complemented each other perfectly, as they set up a boundaries galore, dispatching the balls frequently out of the stadium. Bairstow was the first of the two to bring up the first century of IPL 12, finally being dismissed for a tremendous 114 off 56 balls.
Warner then soon followed his batting partner in bringing up his hundred in style as he remained not out on 100 off 55 balls at the end of the innings. Their belligerent batting also enabled them to post the IPL record for the highest opening partnership, racking up 185 runs for the first wicket.
