West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell struggled big time in the recently concluded edition of the high quality Pakistan Super League (PSL) and concerns were raised on his performance in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
However, the destructive cricketer made a grand entry into the running edition of India’s biggest T20 festival. Despite carrying an injured shoulder, Russell showed his class by winning games for his franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. Managing a combination of 5 wickets and 163 runs, the 30-year old cricketer claimed two player of the match awards in the first three games of the Knight Riders.
After the game against Delhi Capitals, KKR skipper and wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik lauded the resilience of Russell as he was found showering heaps of praise on their gun player. The Tamil Nadu born player added that the Caribbean player is an absolute team man who always gives his best shot. Continuing admiring the skills of Russell, the 33-year old cricketer called him a special player and person for KKR.
