Pakistan’s opener, Abid Ali shone on his ODI debut as he struck a beautiful hundred in his first match in the fourth ODI of the series against Australia. Although he failed to replicate the same in the next match, his hundred provided sufficient evidence that he should be given more chances.
Ex-Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif firmly believes that opening batsman Abid Ali will be included in Pakistan’s World Cup squad. Latif’s thoughts come after Abid scored a spectacular 112 in his ODI debut.
“I believe Abid Ali has punched his ticket to the World Cup,” said Latif. Abid, only drafted into the side two hours before the start after Imam-ul-Haq went down with fever, grabbed his opportunity, as he hit a century on debut becoming the 15th batsman to achieve the feat.
