Sri Lankan Test captain Dimuth Karunaratne was reportedly arrested for drunk driving in Colombo on Sunday morning. Karunaratne was in an inebriated state when he rammed into a three-wheeler in Borella which left the driver of the vehicle injured.
Karunaratne has been granted bail, having been taken into custody at roughly 5:40 a.m. Sri Lanka time on Sunday in the Borella neighbourhood. He will appear in court in the coming week.
Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed the incident and said it will follow due process in determining the future course of action. Sri Lanka won a two-Test series against South Africa last month under Karunaratne's captaincy to become the first Asian team to win a Test series in the African nation.
