Delhi Capitals (DC) wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has found himself in hot water after a video went viral on social media of him predicting a four even before the ball was bowled.
Pant was caught on the stump mic, saying "yeh to waise bhi chauka hai" (this is anyways a boundary) as KKR batsman Robin Uthappa was taking his stance to face spinner Sandeep Lamichhane in the fourth over. He thus hit the next ball for a boundary.
Following the video going viral, Twitterati believed this to be the evidence of match-fixing in the IPL. However, BCCI has quickly squished these rumors in a clarification statement.
"No one heard what Rishabh said before that particular sentence. He was apparently telling (Delhi Capitals captain) Shreyas Iyer to increase fielders on off-side to stop an imminent four," a top BCCI official said.
The viral footage of the incident was widely shared on social media triggering a massive controversy. It has been learnt that the official broadcaster has also filed a complaint with the social networking sites for the illegal use of the clippings.
