Australia set to make brutal World Cup calls

White-washing Pakistan in the 5-match ODI series has caused a bit of tension in the dressing room of the Australian cricket team. The defending champions' salvation since the 3rd ODI against India has been inexplicable.

With Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja in red-hot form and David Warner also scoring tons of runs in IPL, the management is in a fix. Australia can chip in with 3 openers and probably make Usman Khawaja bat at number 3 and Steve Smith at 4 but that might endanger the position of other in-form batsmen Shaun Marsh and Peter Handscomb.

In the bowling ranks, Nathan Lyon, Glenn Maxwell, and Adam Zampa had been phenomenal but Australia might have to decide between Nathan Lyon and Adam Zampa. Australia's coach Justin Langer hinted that they have to make brutal calls before the World Cup.

Their selection decisions might do injustice with some of the players who have performed well lately. But with just 15-man squad allowed for the mega-event, these decisions are inevitable and hard to take.
