After having an ordinary outing against Australia in the ODI series, Umar Akmal faced immense criticism for not converting his talent into performance once again. However, just after the last ODI, Umar Akmal went on to represent his team Balochistan in the Pakistan Cup 2019. Balochistan was chasing 295 after Punjab posted 294-10 in their 50 overs.
Saad Ali (73) was the top scorer for Punjab along with Sohail Tanvir (68) and Iftikhar Ahmad (54). In reply, Balochistan lost some early wickets but in the middle overs, Umar Akmal decided to showcase his potential once again.
Akmal scored his highest List A score for Balochistan yesterday where he smacked the Punjab bowlers to all parts of the ground.
Akmal’s 108-ball 136* included 14 fours and 5 sixes. Opening batsman Awais Zia also played well for his 75 valuable runs but it was Fawad Alam’s 37 off 40 which steadied the ship along with Umar Akmal and made sure they cross the line without any more troubles.
