The high-scoring opening game of the Pakistan Cup 2019 saw batsmen from both teams – Punjab and Balochistan – figure among the runs on the flat surface of the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. While Balochistan’s Umar Akmal stole the show with his majestic match-winning century, earlier in the day, Sohail Tanvir showed great skill with the bat to put up lower order resistance.
After Punjab found themselves in a crisis situation struggling at 139/5, Tanvir joined hands with Saad Ali to unleash a belligerent counterattacking knock. Taking all the opposition bowlers to the cleaners, Tanvir smashed a brisk 68 off 59 balls to help his team reach a challenging total.
Although his batting talent is usually underrated, the 34-year-old bludgeoned 2 fours and 5 massive sixes in his rapid innings that stunned Balochistan.
